5K Manifesto

This motivated guy will be back again!

This motivated guy will be back again!

Chrysa is a great pusher. When I want to blow off training in favor of a short easy run she’s there to say…”hey today is an 18 mile day”. I don’t think I would had gotten through the Rock and Roll Marathon or the Black Mountain Ultra without her urging me on.

Now we are in Indiana. Now it’s time for me to push myself. Now is the time to trade in distance for speed. The last time I ran a 5K it was in North Carolina. It was hilly. I was under trained. However, I was motivated, and I did that race in just over 22 mins.

Indiana is flatter. I have time to train. It’s time to push myself. Chrysa tells me there is a 5K coming up. I said in early spring that I was going to run a 20 min 5K by the end of the summer. This race will be a good test of my abilities. Let’s see what I’ve got in the tank. Let’s see how much work I need to put in to reach my goal.

I have a birthday coming up on June 20th. The race is on the 21st. I can’t think of a better present to myself than achieving a goal, or at least coming close.

This race should be flat and fast. I will be pissed off and motivated (I hate my birthday). The hell with getting old. Getting fast starts NOW!
