First Stop…Indiana!

Chrysa got a phone interview a couple weekends ago for a potential assignment.  We were in the Jeep on the way to Black Mountain NC to participate in the Black Mountain Monster (more on that in a following post).  I had to pull over so she could take the call, but to make a long story short, she took the job and the first assignment is in Lebanon IN.

Chrysa had to start work May 27th so this weekend was dedicated to getting her set up in Indiana.  The action started fast on Saturday.  Chrysa did a speed pack of the essentials and I ran errands and took care of details (mostly I just stayed out of the way).  The plan was to leave early Sunday morning in 2 cars.  The dog and Chrysa in the sports car, and I would haul her stuff in the Jeep.

We left Raleigh on Sunday at about 5:50 am.  Happily the road trip went pretty smooth.  We both have CB radios so we were able to talk while driving.  I was even able to listen to the Indy 500 on my iPhone.

Our apartment is in Lafayette IN and it’s really nice.  It’s fully furnished and even has some other essentials (coffee maker!).  We are going to be really comfortable there.

After an 11 hour drive we were desperate for a beer and some food so our first stop was the Lafayette Brewing Company.  I had the 3rd Eye Rye and Chrysa had the Scotch Ale.  We shared something call Beer Nuggets and they were fantastic.  Think deep fried ruben sandwich balls.

After some more eating and drinking we decided to explore a little.  Lafayette is a beautiful city and we are going to have so much fun exploring and getting to know the people.

After a good nights sleep I had to drive back to Raleigh to finish closing the house.  Chrysa is in Indiana and has started her assignment.  She said her first day went really well.  So far this has been a really positive experience.  I can’t wait to get up there with her and start our lives together as travelers.

Glad to know they have their priorities right, and really know what “fully furnished” means.

Lafayette? That’s even closer to Chicago than Lebanon! Awesome!
