Deep Thoughts and Cheap Wine

Another year has come and gone and I find myself in a reflective mood.  Here I am, sitting on my couch, relaxing with a glass of cheap wine, after spending the last two days running on the beach, and having date nights with Chrysa.  I am a lucky man indeed.

Chrysa and I were just talking today of how fast this assignment is going.  By the end of April we will have been in California for 6 months!  I can’t believe it.  It seems like just yesterday that were were in Quincy knocking back martinis with Talia and staying out too late with Austin.  For that matter, I can’t believe we were in Florida before that.  How crazy is it that we lived in Palatka and I was the karaoke cook at the cafe?

2017 was a year for the ages.  We started 2017 living close to the Atlantic Ocean sipping some bubbly on the couch in our living room.  We ended the year…well…sipping wine on our couch by the Pacific Ocean.  I love the poetry of that for some reason.  I love the fact that we hit both coasts in the same calendar year.  I love the fact that we lived in the center of the country in the middle of the year.  I love the fact that in these crazy, bonkers, bananas times we found stability in the land of Lincoln.

Sometimes Chrysa and I get into a mood and ask each other how we got these opportunities.  Are we good planners?  Did we set ourselves up for success?  Did we just get lucky?  Is there some cosmic good karma on our side?  Who knows!  Those are questions for the philosophers.  For today I’m content to sit back on the couch, finish this surprisingly good cheap wine, and enjoy 2018.  With any luck it will be as adventurous as 2017.  After all…fortune favors the foolish.

Now…enough wistful ramblings from the couch.  Enjoy the rest of the pics.
