Busy Times

Sadly, our time in California is coming to a close. As usual we are in a mad dash to cram in everything we want to see and do. The result of all of this cramming is a backlog of blog posts. We really want to make sure we catalog everything, and give it its due attention, so in this blog post I’m going to give a quick overview of what we have been up to. I am also going to reveal the next location. Don’t worry, everything will get a full post over the next few days.

Work Work Work

When we moved from South Dakota to Cali, Chrysa specifically said she wanted me to work part-time. Working full time really puts stress on our outside of work activities. As a couple living a traveling lifestyle, we really value our flexibility. Unfortunately part-time work wasn’t in the cards here. I ended up getting a job in a local meat market and grocery store. I caught on fast and was a hard worker so I was rewarded with extra hours. Although this job was almost full-time, and not the 30 hours/week I thought it would be, it was an amazing experience. The crew I worked with was great, the scheduling was flexible, I learned a lot, and felt like I contributed to the team. I am really going to miss the gang at El Rancho. They truly are a special group.

In between work, and our outings to explore California, I was studying! I’m sure everyone recalls my “fit for 40” campaign. I decided to take that campaign to the next level. I studied for and passed my personal trainer certification course. I’m really excited about beginning this new phase in my life and career. I’m proud to call myself a fitness professional. No excuses…40, here I come!

Play, Explore, and Post About It

It hasn’t been all work and no play. In the past few weeks we have really worked hard to see California, catch up with old friends, and push boundaries. We really pushed ourselves out of our comfort zone when we took a trip to L.A. to go to the Fitness Expo. Like I said above, a full post is forthcoming, but in short there were; ninjas, arm wrestlers, cardio freaks, man buns, and people who could probably lift the LA Convention Center. It was a crazy, fun, and inclusive experience that we will always remember.

We also took a trip to L.A. to visit with my college friend Adam and his partner Matthieu. It was great! We had brunch, took a hike and checked out the Hollywood strip. You will be amazed how much we crammed into a 24 hour period.

We really blew the doors off when we took our recent trip to Big Sur and Monterey. Look forward to; glamping, trees, spectacular views, marine life, and important phone calls.

Speaking of phone calls…

We got one while on our Big Sur trip involving our next location.
